1860 Partnership change. '...the Partnership between Spencer Henry Bickham, James Pownall, and James Pownall the younger, as Silk Manufacturers, and carried on at Manchester, and also at Bedford, near Leigh, in the county of Lancaster, under the firm of Bickham, Pownall, and Son, was dissolved by the death of the said James Pownall the elder, on the 14th day of October, 1859, from which time the said business has been carried on by the said Spencer Henry Bickham and James Pownall the younger, who will pay and receive all debts due and owing to and from the said late partnership at their warehouse in Spring-gardens, Manchester, where the business will in future be continued by them...'[1]
1863 Partnership change. '...the Partnership heretofore subsisting between us, the undersigned, Spencer Henry Bickham the elder, James Pownall, Spencer Henry Bickham the younger, and Thomas William Selby, as Silk Manufacturers, and carried on at the city of Manchester, in the county of Lancaster, and also at Bedford, near Leigh, in the same county, under the firm of Bickham, Pownall, and Co., has been dissolved by mutual consent, as on and from the 1st day of October, 1862, from which time the said business has been carried on by the said James Pownall, Spencer Henry Bickham the younger, and Thomas William Selby...'[2]
