1889 Founded in Chelsea, Massachusetts as a manufacturer of shoe polish dyes and adhesives. The company became part of the United Shoe Machinery Corporation and established branches worldwide, including a British subsidiary in Leicester.

1930 Amalgamated its British subsidiary with the inks and stains business previously carried out by the Gimson Shoe Machinery Co.[1]

1933 Took over the Ulverscroft Works, formerly occupied by the Gimson Shoe Machinery Co.[2]

1937 Manufacturers of Bostik universal adhesives. Bostik Universal Adhesives and Sealing Compounds. [3]

1937 Changed its name to the B. B. Chemical Co.
