1782 When the partnership of Boulton and Fothergill was dissolved the new business was formed by Matthew Boulton and John Scale to take over the manufacture of buttons

Listed as Toy makers of Soho, Birmingham [1]

By 1790 Boulton and Scale deposited a bill for £100 with Z. Walker in Birmingham.[2]

1796 The business continued as Matthew Boulton and Button Co until about 1809.
