Bow Butts Bonding Co (Montrose)

From Graces Guide

of 3 Commerce Street, Montrose

1951 Bow Butts Bonding Company (Montrose) Limited was incorporated, with capital of £1500, with the stated purpose of carrying on business as distillers, maltsters and brewers.[1] The venture was the initiative of George Keir, a retired grocer, who developed the business from being a duty-free warehouse to a complete bond with full bonding facilities, before retiring from business (for the second time) in 1956.[2]

1959 The company greatly expanded its storage capacity by the acquisition of four former flax stores. Whisky from all over Scotland would be stored there as well as rum from England. Bottling would also be carried out on the premises.[3]

1983 The company was dissolved.[4]
