ca.1920 Built and formerly known as The Vineyard.

1902 Purchased by the University College of Exeter for use as a student hostel.

1905 Plans were made to add a new building named Bradninch Place, at right angles to the house. The foundation stone was laid the following year. Architect was James Jerman, Builder was George Setter. First Honorary Warden was Jessie Douglas Montgomery.

WWI Became No 5 Field Hospital with 200 beds, 177 were in seven wards, the largest of which had 40 beds.

1919 June. The No 5 Field Hospital reverted back to the University College and the first students moved in the hostel during autumn of 1919.

1933 The building was taken over by Devon County Council
