Bradwell Nuclear Power Station

Bradwell is close to the Essex coastline.
1962 Electricity generation started
2002 Ceased operation. During its lifetime the station generated nearly 60 TWh of electricity.
The six main turbine generators were supplied by C. A. Parsons.
C. A. Parsons also supplied the eight gas circulators and their AC motors and the three variable frequency turbine generators which supplied them with variable frequency current.
Bradwell followed an accelerated decommissioning programme, making it the first reactor site in the UK to enter the care and maintenance phase. The majority of decommissioning activities are now complete, including the conditioning of all intermediate level waste. The final projects to be completed include cladding reactor two and installing a pond and vaults over clad building.[1]
