1966 Bristol-BTR (G.R.P.) and Cammell, Laird and Co formed a joint venture company, Bristol-Laird. A subsidiary of Bristol, Bristol Aeroplane Plastics represented the group technically in the collaboration with Cammell Laird (Shipbuilders and Engineers) to study the application of new materials and fabrication techniques in the construction of underwater vehicles.
