Welsh Steam Coal. The mine employed 1,099 men at its peak, producing over 2,000 tons of coal per week

1875 First shaft sunk and coal produced two years later

1881 Named as the Broughton and Plas Power Coal Co

1912 Took over Gatewen Colliery, Bersham Colliery and Smelt Colliery.

1938 The colliery was becoming more difficult and expensive to mine the decision was taken to close and 620 men wer laid off
