1847 News item. 'On Monday night last, an alarm of fire raised by the Waterside, Lincoln, and was quickly discovered that the easting sheds occupied Messrs. Burton and Duckering, ironfounders, were in flames. The engines were speedily on the spot, but the sheds being chiefly composed of wood, and the wood being as "dry as tinder," they were rapidly consumed, and large quantity of wood models contained therein. regret hear that the parties are not insured.'[1]
