1920 The Bwlchgwyn Silica Co was formed by three directors of the Oughtibridge Silica Firebrick Co; These were P. B. Bowl, F. H. Brooke and E. H. Saniter.[1]

1950 Planning inquiry

1953 'Minister of Housing and Local Government, has refused an application by the Bwlchgwyn Silica Co., Ltd. for planning permission to quarry silica stone which lies under the village of Bwlchgwyn, near Wrexham. Denbighshire....would have resulted in the eventual total destruction of the village.'[2]
