1902 May.'At the Crystal Palace track yesterday C. A. Barnes, of the Putney Athletic Club, mounted a Mitchell two horse-power motor-bicycle, beat the performance which the American, Rogers, recently accomplished for a five-mile spin on the same track by 26 2-5 sec. Barnes's times (taken by Mr. A. J Ockelford) were as follow: One 1 mile. 1 min. 50 1-5; two miles. 3 min 31 3-5 sec; three miles, 5 min. 12 2-5 sec: four miles, 6 min. 53 3-5 sec; and five miles, 8 min. 37 2-5 sec. '[1]
