1763 The Welsh Fusiliers are marching from Hilsey barracks, Exeter.[1]

1789 One of 250 new barracks formed by the Government following the French Revolution. Higher barracks was for the Cavalry and designed for 15 officers, 180 men and 202 horses. It included a Guard House, Canteen, Hospital, Riding School and an Ammunition Magazine.

1830 King's Light Infantry, Cavalry Barracks, Exeter.[2]

1891 162 persons listed in families (officers with family and staff). 183 soldiers listed.[3]

1901 Total of 265 persons listed.[4]

1945 Became the Army Pay and Record Office
