Born in Lydeard St. Lawrence the son of William Allen, a Baker.

1846 June 24th. Married in Lydeard St. Lawrence to Sarah Bosley. He is a Carpenter and the son of William Allen, a baker.

1851 Living at Pyleigh Village, Lydeard St. Lawrence, Somerset: Charles Allen (age 29 born Wiveliscombe), Carpenter. With his wife Sarah Allen (age 30 born Lydeard St. Lawrence) and their daughter Maria Allen (age 2 born Lydeard St. Lawrence). Also his grandmother Sarah Bale (age 84 born Elworthy), Blind. Also an apprentice resident.[1]

1861 Living at Pyleigh, Lydeard St. Lawrence, Somerset: Charles Allen (age 37 born Lydeard St. Lawrence), Civil Engineer. With his wife Sarah Allen (age 39 born Lydeard St. Lawrence) and their two children Maria Allen (age 12 born Lydeard St. Lawrence) and William Allen (age 9 born Lydeard St. Lawrence). One visitor. One servant.[2]

1881 Living at 49 Bridge Street, Taunton: Charles Allen (age 58 born Brompton Ralph, Somerset), Engineer Employing 12 Men and 4 Boys. With his wife Sarah Allen (age 59 born St Lawrence, Somerset) and their two daughters Marie Allen (age 32 born St Lawrence, Somerset) and Emily Allen (age 18 born St Lawrence, Somerset).[3]

1900 October 7th. Died. Ironfounder. Probate to his won William Allen, engineer.

1904 February. Death of his widow Sarah.[4]
