Charles Couche ( -1879)

1879 Obituary [1]

The Corps of Mines in France have recently sustained a considerable loss in the death of M. Charles Couche, Inspector-General, Professor of the School of Mines since 1848, President of the Committee of Technical Working of Railways, and President of the International Jury for Railways at the Paris Exhibition last year.

M. Couche was the author of a large standard work on railways, and which has already been translated into several languages. He was a man of great force of character, and all who knew him recognised that he possessed the higher order of talent, but without ambition.
