The death is announced of Mr. Charles H. Oakes, senior partner in the extensive iron and coal firm of James Oakes and Co, Riddings.
Mr. Oakes at one time took a very active part in the management of the collieries, for the conduct of which, in his younger days, he was chiefly responsible. His death, at the ago of eighty years, took place at his house, Holly Hurst, Ridding, on Tuesday last.
