CHARLES HUTTON CROUDACE, a grandson of the late Mr. C. B. Vignoles, Past-President, was born in London on the 20th April, 1838, and died on the 20th May, 1911.
He was engaged for a period of 40 years, between 1857 and 1897, in the survey, construction and management of railways, at first in Germany and Brazil, and for the greater part of the time in India, chiefly under the Public Works Department. He was last employed on a special survey for a pipe-line in Persia.
Mr. Croudace was elected an Associate of The Institution on the 7th April, 1868, and was transferred to the class of Members on the 7th January, 1879.
