Charles James Clover

From Graces Guide

OBITUARY. Mr. Charles James Clover.
We regret to announce the death of Mr. Charles James Clover, which occurred at his residence, "Westfield," Bidston-road, Oxton, on Sunday last, in his 80th year. Mr. Clover was the younger son of the late Mr. George Robert Clover, who, from the nucleus of his own business on the Liverpool side of the Mersey, founded the ship-repairing concern of Clover, Clayton & Co — now Messrs. Grayson, Rollo and Clover Docks, Ltd whose drydocks at Birkenhead have, for so many years, been an outstanding feature of Merseyside.
Mr. Clover combined a sound and practical knowledge of his profession with a breezy and genial personality. He served his time with Messrs. John Jones and Sons, St. George's Engine Works, Clarence Dock, Liverpool, and finished up as head draughtsman, before going to Birkenhead, where, for well over 50 years, he had been a prominent and popular figure. On the 26th October, 1926, Mr. and Mrs. Clover received a flood of felicitations on celebrating their golden wedding. Mrs. Clover died in February this year.
The interment is to take place a, Bidston Church to-day (Thursday) prior to which a service will be held at St. Saviour's Church, Oxton.
