1960 Charles Phillips and Co who now operate a multiple group of 50 modern grocery stores throughout London and the suburbs.[5]
1961 Acquired Alpex Wholesale Supply[6] and James Grundy and Sons and G. and S. Food Fairs[7]
1962 Had acquired another supermarket and opened several in the London area[8]
1963 'Tesco, the supermarkets group which has about 400 shops and stores, last night made a £3,270,000 takeover bid for the Charles Phillips grocery firm, a London based company with about 100 self-service stores and supermarkets.'[9]
