IT is with sincere regret that we have to note the sudden death of Mr. C. W. Brett, the executive director of Barimar Ltd., on Monday, November 5.
Mr. Brett was born at Dulwich in 1883 and following his education at Dulwich College became an apprentice at the works of Alfred Herbert Ltd.
In 1906 he founded the firm of Barimar Ltd., and, although it had other interests in connection with motor cars — indeed there was once a "Barimar" light car - for many years the firm was best known for the welded repair of motor car cylinder blocks in which it built up an enviable reputation. This experience in cylinder block welding laid the foundations for the specialised welded repair of heavy equipment which was fostered by Mr. Brett and made the name of Barimar known throughout the engineering and allied industries.
With the passing of Mr. Brett, industry has lost a respected and well-liked personality who will be long remembered.
