Opened in 1883 and based on a canal tramway opened in 1794 by William Jessop [1]

1889 Engineer is Charles Liddell.[2]

1908 The line, which is 9 miles in length, is worked by the London and North Western Railway. [3]

1923 Became part of London, Midland and Scottish Railway [4]
