Chateau Impney Iron Bridges

From Graces Guide
Chateau Impney Park (the park is currently (2024) closed to visitors)

in Droitwich

Chateau Impney was built by salt tycoon John Corbett. There were two iron footbridges in the grounds. They had slightly arched x-braced wrought iron truss girders with additional support provided by stays radiating from masonry towers. One of the bridges remains in situ across the River Salwarpe. The other was condemned as unsafe, and was bought by the local council. Its deck was erected in Droitwich Lido Park, resting on solid ground, without towers or stays.[1]
