This is one of a number of cast iron arch bridge built across the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Liverpool. The canal has long been filled in, and the bridge heavily underpinned with concrete.

The canal used to continue about 1/3 mile southwards from the bridge, mainly serving coal wharfs and also the Pall Mall Warehouses.
