Circle Line
The histories of the Metropolitan Railway and the District Railway, although separate and independent and often fierce rivals, are inextricably linked through their joint construction of the Inner Circle Railway (now the Circle Line).
1882 The Metropolitan Railway extended its line towards Tower Hill
1884 The District Railway completed its extension from Mansion House to Trinity Square, completing the much awaited Inner Circle Railway[1]
