James Stirling (1800-1876) was an apprentice

c.1833 Archibald Slate became a pupil at the works of Claude Girdwood and Co, Mechanical Engineers, of Glasgow, of which firm Charles Atherton was managing partner.

1834 Charles Atherton, (M.Inst.C.E.,) was appointed managing partner of the firm of iron founders and engineers, in Glasgow, where he stayed until 1837

Several marine engines were made by the firm.

David Thomson (1816-1886) was a pupil for some time until the company closed.

1837 (presumably) company closed.
