"CLAUD MALLETT was identified with the Central Marine Engine Works at West Hartlepool throughout his professional career, including his apprenticeship, which he served from 1910 to 1914. His technical training was obtained at Battersea Polytechnic and West Hartlepool and Sunderland Technical Colleges. From 1914 he served with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps in France until his demobilization with the rank of captain in 1919. He then returned to the Central Marine Engine works as assistant to the works manager; at the close of his career he held the position of plant manager. Mr. Mallett was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1914 and transferred to Associate Membership six years later. His death occurred on 25th May 1951 at the age of fifty-eight."
