1796 First erected, under powers conferred on the Cumbrae Lighthouses Trustees

1829 the arrangements were remodeled - silver-plated parabolic reflectors with Argand lamps were introduced

1874 Steam fog-signals installed.

1895 Replaced steam fog-signals by sirens worked by compressed air
