1949 Private company incorporated to acquire the chemical manufacturing business carried on by William Cocker as Dickinson and Son of Oswaldtwistle and Church, Lancashire; Reckitt and Colman took a majority interest as the company produced chemical intermediates valuable to that company[1]

1972 British Tar Products acquired Cocker Chemical Co Ltd from Reckitt and Colman and the Cocker family[2]
