Brick and tile manufacturers.

Late 1840s Crossways Brick and Tile Yard established by Thomas Colmer Colthurst.[1]

1857 Colthurst, Symonds and Co founded as a partnership between Thomas Colthurst and William Symons.[2]

1859 Colthurst, Symonds and Co were one of the largest brick manufacturers in the Huntworth area (near Bridgwater).[3]

1881 Colthurst, Symonds and Co's Crossways Brick and Tile Works was the largest brick works in the Huntworth area.[4]

1887 By this date Colthurst, Symonds and Co operated three yards, namely: Crossway, Fursland's Somerset Yard, and New Yard.[5]

1933 Patent - Improvements in or relating to roofing tiles.[6]

1937 Patent - Improvements in or relating to roofing tiles. [7]

1937 Listed Exhibitor - British Industries Fair. A large variety of Coloured Sand and Glazed Hand-made Clay Roofing Tiles. A Design and Shade to suit every type of building. New Speciality: Clay Thatch Tiles. (Stand No. B.711)[8]

1939 Patent - Improvements in or relating to cavity wall construction and bricks and blocks.[9]

1960s Crossways Brick and Tile Yard closed.
