1908 Foundation of the institute, something that had been strongly influenced by Edwin O. Sachs.

1912 The scope of the Institute was widened to embrace all areas of structural engineering, particularly steel frames.

1921 E. F. Etchells was President.

1921 Captain M. G. Kiddy became secretary.[1]

1922 November 1922: The name of the Concrete Institute was altered to the Institution of Structural Engineers; the address continued to be Denison House, Vauxhall Bridge-road, Westminster.[2]
