Coultershaw Heritage Site

This is located on the River Rother at Station Road (A285) 1.5 miles south of Petworth, West Sussex, GU28 0JE. Map ref SU 972194

This historic site has the 18th century Coultershaw Beam Pump, driven by a waterwheel fed by water from the River Rother, a variety of other water pumps, a new Archimedes screw water turbine driving a generator, and historic buildings around the mill pond. There are hands-on exhibits, working models, and comprehensive display boards.

It is open on several days per month (typically two Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from April to September). See their website.
