1892 Cowdenbeath Coal Company Limited was registered, with capital of £250,000, to acquire and develop the assets of the company of the same name which, according to the published prospectus of the new company, had commenced business in 1870.[1]

1896 It was resolved to amalgamate the business into that of the Fife Coal Co and trade under that name, the joint capital being £610,000.[2] The Cowdenbeath Coal Co went into voluntary liquidation.[3]
