1839 To be sold or let. Cuckingstool Grist and Flour Mill comprising two water wheels driving three pair of stones, Bunt, Dressing machines etc. Dwelling house attached. Contact Mr. Strong, Powhay Mills, Exeter.[1]

1853 For sale.[2]

1872 For sale now occupied by Messrs Linscott.[3]

1888 'At this site there was first put in four narrow wheels (a) one is used by tHe City Brewery and I understand is freehold. (b). — One wheel is now used for wood turning and saw mills. This is leased by the Town Council. In the grist mill (c) are two wheels, one of double width, and another of single width. The narrow wheel on one side was used for grinding drugs, and on the other side for rasping log wood and other similar matter that were used in the dyeing of the serges This grist mill was sold by the Town Council to the late "Edward Reed," about 15 to years since.'[4]
