1954 Bio Note [1]

Mr. Firth served his apprenticeship with Henry Berry and Co. Ltd., Hydraulic Engineers, Leeds, in 1934, and joined the drawing office staff of that firm in 1938.

In 1945, after being personal assistant to the managing director, he was appointed works manager and ultimately chief designer in 1948. He joined the Fluid Mechanics Division of the Mechanical Engineering Research Laboratory as Senior Experimental Officer in 1949.
