MR. D. G. BURTON, after a general education at the City of London School, became a Sambrooke Scholar at King's College, London, where he obtained a first-class honours degree in mechanical engineering in 1936.

After two years' student apprenticeship with the Associated Equipment Co. Ltd., at Southall, he continued with that company in the Engine Research Department, under Mr. C. B. Dicksee, later becoming Assistant Research Engineer and finally Experimental Engineer.

In 1947 he joined C.A.V. Ltd., Acton, and in the following year was appointed to his present position of Chief Diesel Engineer. Mr. Burton has served as a co-opted member of the Automobile Division Technical Committee since 1948, and was elected to the Internal Combustion Engine Group Committee on 1st May, 1953.
