30 HP COACH BUILT BODIES, 1906.
These cars were produced as rolling chassis with varying wheel bases by the Daimler factory with the option of a various open and closed bodies either in house or from coachbuilders. The current catalogue showed, Landaulette and Phaetons with other bodies starting at £50 extra. All the prospective owners could specify a whole range of requirements.

SPECIFICATION.
Layout: A front engined rear wheel drive chassis on which a number of bodies were available from both Daimler and outside sources. The standard cars included 4 Phaetons and Landaulette.
Engine: A 4-cylinder poppet valve engine about 8,200cc with a bore of 124mm and a stroke of 150mm. The Treasury output figures were 30 HP. Controlled by one lever on the steering wheel which performs 2 functions, the throttle, and the ignition advance/retard, it has no return spring. This made the car almost impossible to stall but starting more dangerous. Mechanically operated valves are in the open, as is the camshaft and all the timing gear. Ignition is dual and selectable with two plugs per cylinder, one for magneto and one for trembler coil. Cooling is by water pump and fan. Lubrication is by drip feed oilers controlled by the driver, and splash in the sump.
Transmission: A four-forward and reverse crash gearbox with side chain drive.
Suspension, Steering, & Brakes: Worm & Segment irreversible steering. Brakes to the rear wheels are operated by an ineffective foot brake pedal, the handbrake operates on the chain drive shaft by the gearbox and works. The suspension is ‘grasshopper type extra long springs. It has Artillery wheels with pneumatic tyres 35ins x 5ins.

PERFORMANCE: Speed 60 MPH a difficult but exhilarating drive.
DIMENSIONS: The wheelbase was 8ft 6ins.
Overall dimensions and weights depended on the body fitted and the level of extras fitted.
