Daniel Bourn

From Graces Guide

Daniel Bourn opened a cotton mill in Leominster in 1748.

Bourn was a well known name in the cotton industry and had patented a machine for carding wool and cotton at the same time as Lewis Paul.

Some say the reason for placing the cotton mill in Leominster was that it was on the route between the port of Bristol and the cotton districts of Manchester.

The cotton mill was burnt down in 1754, some said in suspicious circumstances.

When it was rebuilt it was used as a corn mill.
