1861 Living at Village, Hawarden, Flintshire: Daniel Ratcliffe (age 43 born Hawarden), Iron Founder employing 13 men and 11 aps. With his wife Elizabeth Ratcliffe (age 40 born Hawarden) and their nine children; Susanna Ratcliffe (age 20 born Hawarden); Edward Ratcliffe (age 17 born Hawarden), Iron Moulder; James Ratcliffe (age 15 born Hawarden); Anna J. Ratcliffe (age 13 born Hawarden); Thomas Ratcliffe (age 10 born Hawarden); Elizabeth Ratcliffe (age 8 born Hawarden); Walter Ratcliffe (age 6 born Hawarden); Lavinia Ratcliffe (age 3 born Hawarden); and Ellinor Ratcliffe (age 1 born Hawarden).[1]

1866 September 17th. Died. 'On the 17th inst. of cholera, Mr. Daniel Ratcliffe, of Hawarden Iron Works, Hawarden, aged 51 years.'[2]
