1917 Obituary [1]

DAVID JOHN HIGHET, born at Ayr on the 15th November, 1862, died at Hove on the 17th September, 1916.

After acting some years as an assistant to Mr. John Strain, M.Inst.C.E., he was appointed, in 1890, an Assistant Engineer on the Selangor Government Railways.

Subsequently he became District Engineer, and in 1906 Divisional Engineer, on the Federated Malay States Railways, in which the Selangor lines were merged.

In 1909 and 1910 he was acting General Manager of the system, and in 1912 he retired on account of ill-health.

Mr. Highet was elected an Associate Member on the 4th February, 1890, and was transferred to the class of Members on the 24th January, 1905.
