1845 Sale Notice: 'VALUABLE AND EXTENSIVE LEASEHOLD IRON FOUNDRY MACHINERY. &c.
At Bagilt, near Holywell, in the County of Flint.
BY MR. BELL, By order and under the directions of the Mortgagee (by virtue of a power of sale contained in his security), on Monday, the 20th day of January, 1845, precisely at one o'clock in the afternoon, on the premises;
ALL that valuable and extensive LEASEHOLD IRON FOUNDRY, most eligibly situate near to the Boot Turnpike Gale, at Bagilt, and within a mile of the market town of Holywell, in the county of Flint, and known as the DEE BANK FORGE, which was erected about four years ago, at an outlay of upwards of £10,000, and possesses every advantage for carrying on an important trade. And likewise the valuable MACHINERY and FIXTURES belonging thereto, which are of the best manufacture, and in excellent working order, and include two 24-horse power condensing STEAM ENGINES, with tubular boilers, &c. complete; weighing machine up to eight tons; machinery for driving shafting in fitting shop, fan, &c.; eight lathes, of various sizes and descriptions; patent self-acting upright drilling machine; powerful punching machine; power screwing machine; foundry machine; one hammer of seven tons; one ditto of four tons; one 15-ton crane, and one seven-ton ditto, with blocks and chains complete.
The Foundry and Premises are bounded on the north by the River Dee, and on the south by the Flint and Holywell turnpike road.
The intended line of the Chester and Holyhead Railway will pass through the land, the compensation for which, no doubt, will be considerable.
The Buildings are erected of the best stone, in a very substantial manner, and covered with ton slate. They consist of a spacious fitting-up shop and foundry, hammer sheds, boiler sheds, iron store room, moulding rooms, carpenters’ rooms, smithy, machine-house, offices, and also two excellent DWELLING-HOUSES, replete with every convenience, together with the out-offices, land, gardens, and appurtenances thereunto belonging, the whole of which comprises, by admeasurement, 4a 2a 12r or thereabouts.
The Property thus offered for sale to public competition held lease for an unexpired term of 99 years, commencing in October, 1841, at the very moderate annual rent of £70, and is admirably adapted for wood and iron Shipbuilders, having the greatest facilities for marine or locomotive work. It will be sold subject to certain conditions; and any further particulars may had by applying to Mr. Oldfield, Solicitor, Farm, Abergele ; Mr. Oldfield, the Mortgagees’ Solicitor, at his offices, Pendre, Holywell; or to the Auctioneer, Holywell.

On the Premises, at two o'clock in the afternoon, on the said 20th day of January, and on the following days, at the hour of one o’clock on each day, until the whole is disposed of, a PERPENDICULAR SAW MILL complete, with circular and other uses, the TOOLS In the fitting, boiler, and smiths' shops and foundry, and a great variety of other miscellaneous articles appertaining to the trade, too extensive for the limits of an advertisement, descriptive catalogues of which are in the course of preparation, and may be had fifteen days prior to the sale, the Auctioneer, Pendre Cottage, Holywell, and at the principal Inns In the neighbourhood' [1]
