Early 1930s Maurice Edward Denny collaborated with William Wallace of Brown Brothers and Co to produce the Denny-Brown] stabilizer. The first was fitted in a cross-Channel ship in 1936; a large number were used in H.M. Ships during the 1939-45 war to give greater stability for gunnery; afterwards it was used in many ships.
