Maj. Gen Sir Donald Jay McMullen, KBE, CB, DSO (Member), died on 12th November aged 76.

He was commissioned in the Royal Engineers in 1911 and, after attending the School of Military Engineering, Chatham, took a mechanical engineering course on the Great Northern Railway under Sir Nigel Gresley. During the 1914-18 war he served first in the War Office and later with railway troops in the Middle East. The peak of his military career was from 1942-48 when he was Director of Transportation, War Office, and was promoted to Major-General. He was knighted for his services. In 1950 he joined the board of the Peruvian Corporation Ltd.

Sir Donald, who was made an Associate Member in 1925 and Member in 1930, will be remembered for his charm and incisiveness and it is with deep regret that the Institution records his death.
