Dorothy Perkins

Dorothy Perkins was a retail chain, selling women's fashion in the United Kingdom.

Founded in 1909 under the name H. P. Newman and Co, the company traded under the name Dorothy Perkins from 1916.

1928 Name changed to Ladies Hosiery and Underwear Ltd

1939 Name changed to Dorothy Perkins Ltd

1958 Incorporated as a public company; the chain had 130 shops; there were 3 subsidiaries - two were shops and the other a manufacturer, J. H. Greenwood Ltd of Biddulph; Alan Farmer, who had joined in 1926, was chairman.[1]

In the 1960s, Dorothy Perkins was controlled by the Farmer family, who used to own Winster Hosiery.

1973 Acquired by British Land, particularly for the 265 shops[2]

It sold both its own range of clothes and branded fashion goods until February 2021, when it became part of Boohoo.com, having been acquired after the collapse of Philip Green's fashion empire Arcadia Group.
