1880 The company was incorporated as the Dublin and Lucan Steam Tramway Co.

1900 The name was changed to the Dublin and Lucan Electric Railway in connection with the alteration of the motive power from steam to electricity. [1]

1925 Unlike most other lines within the Irish Free State, this was not absorbed into the Great Southern Railways.
