1817 Succeeded his father as Duke

c.1824 Set up a competition for a standard design of a lifeboat. The winner was William Plenty, of Newbury, Berkshire.

1825 Joined the Privy Council

1840 Elected Chancellor of Cambridge University

1847 Died at Alnwick. He was succeeded by Admiral Algernon Percy as 4th Duke of Northumberland
