1832 George Sked of Dunbar Foundry advertised a number of high pressure and condensing steam engines for sale.[1]

1843 Advert: 'STEAM-ENGINES. The SUBSCRIBER begs to intimate that he has for SALE several FIRST-CLASS HIGH-PRESSURE and CONDENSING STEAM ENGINES, of 4, 5, 6, 7, and 10 Horses Power, well adapted for driving Thrashing-Mills, &c. &c.

N.B. These Engines are constructed of the best materials and workmanship; their vital parts are arranged with superior skill, and contain all the latest improvements for economising fuel and yielding the greatest mechanical effect from a given quantity of steam; and the Subscriber will warrant to work satisfactorily, with very little more than one-half the fuel and water required for others.'[2]

1853 Sale Notice: 'THAT Large and Commodious Work, called DUNBAR FOUNDRY, belonging to, and lately occupied by the Heirs of Mr George Sked. The Premises consist of an excellent DWELLING-HOUSE, Three Stories, with Garden and Green attached; a MOULDING SHOP, 52 Feet by 46 Feet: a SMITH'S SHOP, 66 by 24 Feet; a TURNING SHOP, Two Floors each, 48 by 23 Feet, with ENGINE and BOILER HOUSE adjoining An Erecting SHOP, 58 Feet by 22, and 15 Feet High: a BOILER SHED, 48 Feet by 21 Feet; MILLWRIGHTS SHOP, 33 Feet by 19 Feet, with Office; DRAWING APARTMENT, WAREROOM STABLE, Straw SHED, and other conveniences. ....'[3]
