1961 Bio Note [1]

Mr E. G. Longman, M.B.E. (Member), who has been elected Chairman of the Eastern Branch, received his technical education at Weymouth Technical College. He was awarded a Whitworth Exhibition in 1921.

A year later he joined the Hoffmann Manufacturing Co. Ltd as a draughtsman and subsequently he progressed through the Technical Department of the Company to become Executive Technical Director, the position he holds today.

Mr Longman was elected a Member of the Institution in 1951 and he became a member of the Eastern Branch Committee in 1954.

From 1958-60 he served on the Lubrication and Wear Group Committee. Mr Longman was awarded the M.B.E. in 1960.
