E. G. Semler is a Publications Consultant and freelance writer. Educated at Herne Bay College and University College London, he graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1942 and served a college apprenticeship with the Metropolitan Vickers Electrical Co at Trafford Park, where he also edited the house magazine, Rotor. For the next 12 years he was a welding engineer with MetroVicks and other companies. In 1956 he became editor of Automation Progress, and in 1960 Editor of the CME. A Student member in 1942 he was made a Fellow in 1970.
