E. J. Hill, Member, was educated at Slough Grammar School and Southall Technical College, where he obtained a Whitworth Society Prize and National Certificate Prize. His engineering training began in 1944 at Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd, Paints Division, followed by the design of chemical plant and installations.

In 1953 he joined Vacu-Blast Ltd. as a designer and has since been responsible for the technical development of their impact finishing equipment. He was in turn appointed Development Engineer, Chief Engineer, and Research and Development Manager. He was closely involved in proving new developments in the field, and in the patenting of machines and accessories. In 1967 he was appointed to the Board as Research Director. He is currently Technical Director.
