Working at EMI, Isaac Shoenberg brought together a group of 144 scientists and engineers to work on developing television.

c.1932 W. F. Tedham and James McGee developed the Emitron television camera. This was used at the opening of the BBC 405 line monochrome television service on the 2 November 1936.
