1883 The company was registered on 8 September, as Eckersley, ffarington and Co, to acquire a business of cotton spinners, bleachers, and dyers. [1].

1935 'Lieut-Colonel Nathaniel ffarington Eckersley a large landowner in Lancashire and Shropshire, who was High Sherriff of Shropshire in 1919-20 died at Wem yesterday, aged 77. He belonged to a well known Lancashire family of landowners, colliery proprietors and cotton mill owners, being the second and only surviving son of the late Mr Nathaniel Eckersley....'[2]
